At this time, we do not have an installed pastor. We do have two elders that fill our pulpit regularly; Jonathan Kimball and Susan Murray.
Jonathan Kimball, Commissioned Ruling Elder
Jonathan joined First Presbyterian Church in 2008 and became a ruling elder (that is, a member of session, the governing board of the church) in 2011. He obtained a certificate in Congregational Leadership from University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in 2021. Since then, he has preached regularly and served the church in other ways. In August 2024, he was commissioned to serve First Presbyterian Church in an expanded and more formal role: preaching twice a month, serving on three committees, performing pastoral care, advising our campus ministry (Sacred Paths), and providing spiritual leadership.
Jonathan and his wife, Rhonda, have two kids, Sam (24, they/she, Providence, RI) and Jesse (22, they, Chicago, IL). He maintains a personal website that includes scripts of sermons and other useful information. In his professional life, Jonathan is department chair and Fred W. Finley Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Missouri S&T.
Susan Murray, Clerk of Session
Susan joined First Presbyterian Church in 2003. She was ordained as a ruling elder at a Presbyterian Church in St. Louis over 20 years ago. She has held a variety of leadership positions at the church and has served as clerk of session since 2020. In this capacity she is involved with the business and financial dealings of the church. Susan will obtain a certificate in Congregational Leadership from University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in 2024. She typically preaches twice monthly.
Susan and her wife, Julie, have two kids, Jack (22, he) and Dace (19, she) who live in Rolla. Both graduated from our Presbyterian Preschool. In her professional life, Susan is vice provost for online learning and educational innovation at Missouri S&T.
