June 30, 2013

The title of Pastor John Oerter’s sermon for the week of June 30, 2013 is A Study in Sturdiness based on scriptures from 1 Kings 21: 1-5, 17-21a.  The hymns for Sunday are Today We All Are Called to Be Disciples; My Country, ‘Tis of Thee; and O Beautiful for Spacious Skies.

Worship begins at 9:45 am, followed by fellowship.  Our church provides a Nursery during worship service.  First Presbyterian Church is located at 919   E. Tenth Street in Rolla.  Our website is www.rollapresby.org.

Our block party will be June 29 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm.  Join us for food, fun, and fellowship.  The Heritage Boys will be here from 5 – 6 pm.  Bring your lawn chairs and join us on the church parking lot.

Our 150th anniversary is coming up May 15, 2014.  If you have ideas and stories to share, contact Mary Kwantes.  We are hunting pictorial directories from Wes Schlotzhaur and Larry Boutelle years.  We have copies of 1989 and 1975.  Any earlier copies would be greatly appreciated.

The Mission Committee again has Disaster Buckets to be filled by the first of August.  They are located in the hallway across from the office.  There is a sign-up sheet to fill out if you take a bucket.  Inside every bucket is a list of items to go in the buckets.

The Rolla Back to School Fair will be held on Wednesday, August 7.  This year we have selected to provide small bottles of Elmer’s school glue.  Look for a box in the hallway to collect the bottles.  Monetary donations are also welcome.  Any questions, feel free to contact any member of the Mission Committee.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 13, 5:30 pm (time change) dinner at the Whitakers and to OAT Theatre for Neil Simon’s play, “Fools”.  Event is available to the first 20 people who sign up and pay Betti Jo or Britt.  Cost is $16.00 per person.  Please bring a side dish.  Plan now to join in the fun and fellowship.  Sign up board across from office.

We are partnering with Salem Avenue Baptist Church to collect tennis and casual shoes for their Shoe Closet and distribution July 27.  A tub will be placed inside the foyer where you may put the shoes and they will pick them up each Wednesday until July 27th.
