The title of Reverend Lucia Oerter’s sermon for the week of June 23, 2013 is Word Up based on scriptures from Galatians 1: 1-12.  The hymns for Sunday are Today We All Are Called to Be Disciples, I Danced in the Morning and Arise, Your Light is Come.

Worship begins at 9:45 am, followed by fellowship.  Our church provides a Nursery during worship service.  First Presbyterian Church is located at 919   E. Tenth Street in Rolla.  Our website is www.rollapresby.org.

The Board of the Presbyterian Women is looking for a Secretary for the upcoming year.  If interested, please contact Carol Bennett or Eleanor Van Horn.

Our block party is June 29 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the church parking lot.  Grilled hot dogs, drinks, condiments, and table service will be provided.  You may sign up to bring a side dish.  The Heritage Boys concert is 5 – 6 p.m.  Come enjoy the fun, games and prizes.

Our 150th anniversary is coming up May 15, 2014.  If you have ideas and stories to share, contact Mary Kwantes.

The Mission Committee again has Disaster Buckets to be filled by the first of August.  They are located in the hallway across from the office.  There is a sign-up sheet to fill out if you take a bucket.  Inside every bucket is a list of items to go in the buckets.  We ask that only these items be included.

The Rolla Back to School Fair will be held Wednesday, August 7.  This year they hope to assist 800 children from kindergarten through 12th grade.  This year we have selected to donate small bottles of Elmer’s Glue.  Our goal is 425 bottles.  Look for a box in the hallway to collect bottles of school glue.  Monetary donations to the Mission Committee is also welcome and we will purchase glue for you.  Any questions, feel free to contact any member of the Mission Committee.

Mark your calendars for July 13; 6:00 p.m. dinner at the Whitakers and to OAT Theatre for Neil Simon’s play, “Fools”.  Event is available to the first 20 people to sign up and pay Betti Jo or Britt.  Cost is $16.00 per person.  Please bring a side dish.  Plan now to join in the fun and fellowship.
