Announcements:

  • PC(USA) has four special offerings a year. We will be collecting for the Pentecost Offering. This special offering helps support ministries to young people and the needs of at-risk children. 40% of the Pentecost offering is retained by our congregations wanting to make an impact in the lives of young people in the Rolla community (upon Session approval CASA will receive that 40%) The remaining 60% is used to support ministries of the Presbyterian Mission Agency.
  • The Rolla Choral Arts Society Children’s Choir Una Voce and the Rolla Middle School Honor Choir will present a free concert, Monday, May 13, at 7:00 p.m. in our sanctuary. Please join us!

  • Game night tonight! Friday, May 3, 6:30 pm, in the fellowship hall. Bring a game and snack to share, or just show up!
  • We mourn the passing of Jean Day this past Tuesday. Tomorrow, May 4, there will be a visitation at 11:00 and memorial service at noon at James & Gahr Mortuary. Following the service, there will be a light lunch in the fellowship hall.
  • The Rolla Choral Arts Society and the 399th Army Band will be presenting “Songs of Freedom” at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Waypoint United Methodist Church in Waynesville, and again on Monday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Leach Theatre Castleman Hall, Missouri S&T. Both concerts are FREE, however tickets are required. Tickets will be available after the service Sunday at fellowship.
  • Our Bible study, Bible Stories for Grown-Ups, continues Wednesdays at 6 pm in the sanctuary.

EASTER – Transcendent Love – Bulletin, Live Stream, Announcements for March 31, 2024

A few announcements:

  • We are still collecting the One Great Hour of Sharing special offering, which benefits the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self Development of People.
  • We are also collecting for the Easter Basket of Hope. No specific item this week: bring anything that was on the list.
  • First Friday Out will be next Friday, April 5, at Denny’s at 5:30 pm. Contact Javier for a reservation.
  • Our Lenten Bible study concluded. We have another week off, and then will start our next study on April 10 at 6 pm, using the book Bible Stories for Grownups by Josh Scott, available from many resellers.

We will share our “Hosannas!” this week as we celebrate Palm Sunday together. Rev. Bob Morrison will be preaching, using Mark 11:1-11.

Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week. We will gather in the chapel on Maundy Thursday, March 28, at 6:30 pm for a service that will include communion. Then on Easter Sunday, March 31, after worship, we will have a carry-in brunch in the fellowship hall.

Our Lenten Bible study has drawn to a close. We had studied the story of Holy Week as reported in the Gospel According to Mark. If you would like to add this to your spiritual practices during Holy Week, here are suggested passages:

  • Sunday: Mark 11:1-11
  • Monday: Mark 11:12-19
  • Tuesday: Mark 11:20-12:27
  • Wednesday: Mark 13
  • Thursday: Mark 14:3-25, 32-50

Then on Sunday, join us for worship where we will celebrate our risen Lord!

We are continuing to collect items for the Easter Basket of Hope. This week, we are collecting personal care items (deodorant, razors, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products).

Finally, the One Great Hour of Sharing special offering will be collected through Easter.  This offering is divided between the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program and Self-Development of People.

A few announcements:

  • Game night is TONIGHT, February 2, in the fellowship hall. We will take a head count at 6 pm for pizza. Bring a game to share. Water will be provided, so bring other drinks if you like.
  • The Session is offering blue hymnals (that is, The Presbyterian Hymnal (1990)) to the congregation.
  • We will be collecting a special offering on Souper Bowl Sunday, February 11. Proceeds will support the Friday Backpack program.

Two weeks from now, lots will be happening in our church (again, please refer to the newsletter):

  • December 16 at 10 am, the Presbyterian Women are hosting Coffee, Tea, and Cookies.
  • December 16 at 7 pm and December 17 at 3 pm, the Rolla Choral Arts Society will hold its concert, Season of Light, in the sanctuary. Tickets are $10, in advance or at the door.
  • December 17 in worship, the Chancel Choir will present its cantata, Festival of Lessons and Carols by Jonathan Willcocks.
  • December 17 after worship, we will hold a carry-in luncheon in the fellowship hall. All are welcome to stay.

Life Is Not Fair – Announcements, Bulletin, Live Stream Link for September 24, 2023
