Announcements:
  • Mission and Outreach are collecting financial donations for two efforts. One is a COVID emerging needs matching grant. John Calvin Presbytery will match donations made by October 31, 2:1.
  • The other collection is for JCPDA Blue Buckets. Rather than asking for actual supplies, we are asking for funding to support JCPDA’s purchase of supplies.
  • We will have a gathering in the chapel after fellowship to discuss our church’s future. A small group of elders met with Greg Emery recently; time to get going again in discussions about our next installed pastor.
  • Our next Zoom Christian ed gathering will be Thursday, October 28, based on a reading, “Large Space Rocks That Pass ‘Near’ Earth Help Us Think About God of the Cosmos.” If you need the Zoom link or the reading, contact Jonathan Kimball or Javier Valentin-Sivico.

Live stream link and bulletin for October 10 – Our Great High Priest

Jonathan Kimball’s sermon, Our Great High Priest, will be based on Hebrews 4:12-16. Bulletin and live stream link below. There are two announcements from Mission & Outreach as well:

  • The John Calvin Presbytery continues to offer the Covid Emergency Grant. The grant offers to match $2 for every $1 raised up to $2,500. We are grateful for your generosity in the past. During October and November, we are asking for your help again with donations to go to Russell House.
  • The JCPDA is requesting Blue Bucket Brigade donations. Since gathering the items and getting them to Springfield continues to be difficult, Outreach Committee is asking for monetary donations again this year. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Our next Christian ed gathering on Thursday, October 14, will be a discussion of a reading titled, “Supreme Court Justices Ask Not to Be Viewed as Politicians,” from The Wired Word. Contact Jonathan for the Zoom link and reading.
