  • Mission and Outreach wants to thank everyone who gave to the crayon drive for the back to school fair and GRACE for Kids, Christmas in July. Please bring your final donations this Sunday.
  • First Friday Out will be August 2 at 5:30 pm at Los Arcos. Please let Javier know by Sunday whether you will join us.
  • Please join us on August 11 at 4:00 pm for a commissioning service and workshop! John Calvin Presbytery has responded to your question, ‘How will my church meet the challenges ahead?’ “Discovering Joy through Grace, Gifts, and Generosity”, an interactive educational event will be held after the Called Meeting of JCP to commission Jonathan Kimball as CRE.   • Mission and Outreach has decided to continue the crayon drive for the back to school fair. This will continue through July. There is a box for Crayola crayon 24 pack at the entrance to the sanctuary.
  • We will also be participating in GRACE for Kids, Christmas in July through the month of July. We were assigned toys for the littlest kids, zero to three years. There is a Christmas box at the entrance to the sanctuary.
  • Next Friday, July 19, there is a carry-in dinner at 5:30. Sign-up sheet at the entrance to the sanctuary. After dinner, some of us will attend the Ozark Actors Theatre performance of “Clue.”

Announcements:

  • Our Bible study is continuing each Wednesday at 6 pm in the sanctuary. We are studying “Bible Stories for Grown-ups” by Josh Scott. The stories are self-contained, so feel free to join us for just one session or for all of them.
  • Our first Friday activity for May will be a game & snack night on May 3 at 6:30 pm in the fellowship hall. Please bring your favorite game and possibly a snack to share.
  • The Rolla Choral Arts Society will present their spring concert “Songs of Freedom” on Sunday, May 5, 3:00 p.m. at Waypoint United Methodist Church in Waynesville, and on Monday, May 6, 7:30 p.m. at Leach Theatre Castleman Hall, Missouri S&T.  Both concerts are FREE and open to the public, but tickets are required.  Tickets will be available at fellowship.

We will share our “Hosannas!” this week as we celebrate Palm Sunday together. Rev. Bob Morrison will be preaching, using Mark 11:1-11.

Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week. We will gather in the chapel on Maundy Thursday, March 28, at 6:30 pm for a service that will include communion. Then on Easter Sunday, March 31, after worship, we will have a carry-in brunch in the fellowship hall.

Our Lenten Bible study has drawn to a close. We had studied the story of Holy Week as reported in the Gospel According to Mark. If you would like to add this to your spiritual practices during Holy Week, here are suggested passages:

  • Sunday: Mark 11:1-11
  • Monday: Mark 11:12-19
  • Tuesday: Mark 11:20-12:27
  • Wednesday: Mark 13
  • Thursday: Mark 14:3-25, 32-50

Then on Sunday, join us for worship where we will celebrate our risen Lord!

We are continuing to collect items for the Easter Basket of Hope. This week, we are collecting personal care items (deodorant, razors, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products).

Finally, the One Great Hour of Sharing special offering will be collected through Easter.  This offering is divided between the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program and Self-Development of People.

  • This Sunday, we will be taking up the annual SOUPER Bowl offering. Please place your donations in the Soup Pots in the back of the sanctuary either for the Chiefs, or for that other team from the west coast. Proceeds from the offering will go to the Friday Backpack program.
  • Please join us for Ash Wednesday on February 14 at 5:45 pm at the fellowship area in back of sanctuary. We will have a short service to impose ashes in our desire to confess sins and begin the Lenten Season.  After the service we will start our Lenten Bible Study on Seven Days to Glory. Discussion will end shortly before 7 pm.

We will hold a congregational meeting after worship for the purpose of electing officers. More details in the newsletter. The meeting will not be streamed.

  • December 16 at 10 am, the Presbyterian Women are hosting Coffee, Tea, and Cookies.
  • December 16 at 7 pm and December 17 at 3 pm, the Rolla Choral Arts Society will hold its concert, Season of Light, in the sanctuary. Tickets are $10, in advance or at the door.
  • December 17 in worship, the Chancel Choir will present its cantata, Festival of Lessons and Carols by Jonathan Willcocks.
  • December 17 after worship, we will hold a carry-in luncheon in the fellowship hall. All are welcome to stay.

God in the Rear-View Mirror – Bulletin and Announcements for October 22, 2023

Please join us for worship IN PERSON ONLY this Sunday at 9:45 am in the FELLOWSHIP HALL. Mary Kwantes will be preaching, “God in the Rear-View Mirror,” using Exodus 33:12-32.

Due to ongoing issues with the heat in the sanctuary, we will be worshipping in the fellowship hall. As for last week, the service will be recorded and uploaded later to YouTube, and a podcast of the sermon will be posted as usual. All indications are that we will be back to normal for October 29.

  • This Sunday will conclude the Peace & Global Witness special offering. The Peace & Global Witness Offering encourages the church to cast off anxiety and fear, discord and division, and embrace our God’s mission of reconciliation to those around the corner and around the world.
  • There will be a picnic at Lions Club Pavilion #1 on September 30 at 5:00 pm. Hot dogs and water will be provided. Feel free to bring an item to share, your favorite drink, or meat to throw on the grill.
